Agnes Bembenek
Agnes Pauline Bembenek, 96, Wausau, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1922, in the town of Bevent to the late Anton and Felixia (Stroik) Wierzba. On Oct. 26, 1953, Agnes married the love of her life, the late Frank A. Bembenek, who passed away on Feb. 12, 2004.
Over the years, Agnes worked in many Wausau-area homes as a housekeeper. She enjoyed the friendships that she developed with each of these families. Agnes took great pride in what she did and it showed.
Agnes was a homemaker and baker and she loved gardening. Her delicious home-made buns were enjoyed by many. She could grow any vegetable or flower from seed and nurture them in her ever-productive garden. Agnes was known to many for her abundant raspberry patch. Her berries were known far and wide. Agnes donated many of her plants to the Wausau Area Women’s Community and would occasionally stop to check on their growth.
Agnes and Frank enjoyed the cottage they built together on Lake Alice. The cottage was the center of entertainment for family and friends. They spent quality time enjoying the beautiful sunsets, fishing and sharing many of those special fishing spots with others.
Agnes was a longtime member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Agnes was open, honest and direct. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer advice.
Agnes was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, brothers Martin, Walter, Dominic, Joe, Raymond and Leo Wierzba and sisters Irene Galecki, Theresa Bembenek, Verona Woyak, Regina Kizewski, Valeria Ganski and Margaret Wanserski. She is survived by sister-in-laws Margaret, Doris and Delores Wierzba and by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.
The Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 229 S. 28th Ave., Wausau, Wisconsin 54401. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, Masses for Frank and Agnes, donations to St. Matthew’s Church or a charity of your choice.

Barbara Brown
With great sadness, the family of Barbara Lane (Campbell) Brown announces her passing at the age of 62. Barb will be forever remembered by her children (Nathan, Amanda and Molly) and forever cherished by her eight grandchildren (Timothy, Hudson, Adler, Kiante, Kaira, Averie, Desmond and Isaac).
Barb was predeceased by her husband Timothy Brown, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage as “best buddies” and soul mates. Both Barb and Tim were proud to build a community of faith as founding members of Covenant Community Presbyterian Church. Not only did she shepherd the creation of the church by hosting and organizing service in the basement of her home, Barb also worked at the church and served as an elder.
She will always be remembered as the one to help others in need and often volunteered for Never Forgotten Honor Flight. Barb was passionate about playing Mahjong with friends, traveling, collecting gnomes and fairies, creating crafts and decorating her “little grandma house.” Many of her passions were enjoyed and gifted to her family and friends and will continue to be cherished with warm memories and love.

Donald “Don” Aggen
Donald “Don” D. Aggen, 91 of Wittenberg, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Rennes Health and Rehab, Weston, under the care of Ministry Hospice, Wausau.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1927, in Wittenberg to the late Edward and Myrtle (Long) Aggen. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Hazel Erickson on Nov. 6, 1948, in Birnamwood. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2016.
Don owned and operated Aggen Real Estate Agency in Wittenberg for many years, and was also a dairy farmer. He was an active member of the Wittenberg Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing and traveling with his wife, Hazel, and fishing. One highlight for Don was to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
Survivors include his children, Philip (Marlene) Aggen of Germantown, David (Carol) Aggen of Wausau, Carolyn (Steve) Becker of Cincinnati, Kenneth (Patti) Aggen of Pine Island, Minnesota, Kathryn (Ron) Whitehead of Chanhassen, Minnesota, and Barbara (Robert) Burrow of Camarillo, California; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Marion Murphy of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Hazel, and his brother Ray.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Lois Graper will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, town of Morris, where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the church.
