WAUSAU — The Westies Neighborhood Group will move their regular meetings from Mondays to the second Wednesday of each month starting this month.

The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 in the Labor Temple building, 318 S. Third Ave., Wausau. Please use the rear entrance on Fourth Avenue to access the meeting space.

This month neighborhood officers will discuss the monthly police report for September. The guest speaker this month is Wausau Fire Department Capt. Dave DeSantis. With winter just around the corner, Dave will cover safety issues with gas and wood furnaces and the use of space heaters or dehumidifiers.

Free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for your home are offered by the Wausau Fire Dept. with your family working out an evacuation plan of your home with WFD staff.

Meeting is town hall-style so attendees can ask questions during the meeting or privately to Wausau PD officers or officials.

Alderpersons Dennis Smith and Karen Kelbach normally are in attendance. The Westies group serves residents from First Avenue west to Seventh Avenue and from Stewart Avenue north to Bridge Street, but neighbors from other areas are welcome to attend.
