WAUSAU — The largest day of service in the United States is just around the corner. Can you make a difference?

Locally, United Way Volunteer Connection’s raking project is a huge volunteer effort to help elderly and disabled residents take care of fall yard clean up by raking leaves. Corporate groups, school groups, families and individuals are all welcome to participate in Make a Difference Day.

Those interested in raking should sign up in advance or go to First United Methodist Church between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 27 for a yard assignment.

If you are unable to rake but want to help, you can make a donation of:

  • Non-perishable food
  • Toiletries
  • New or gently used winter outwear for children though adult sizes

Take all donations to First United Methodist Church between 8:30 a.m. and 11: 30 a.m. on Make A Difference Day.
