WAUSAU — A 40-year-old Tomahawk man is behind bars Tuesday after allegedly luring a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl to a Rib Mountain location for sex.

But the “teen” he expected to meet turned out to be an undercover police officer, according to court filings.

Police say Joseph Wagner spent about two weeks sending messages and explicit photos to the “girl” and asked for photos in return before arranging the meet.

Wagner faces felony charges filed Monday in Marathon County Circuit Court of using a computer to facilitate a sex crime and six counts of exposing a child to harmful material. He is being held on a $5,000 cash bond, according to online court records.

A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 7.
