Wausau Pilot and Review launched in March 2017, an effort to fill crucial news gaps in local coverage and do so in an unbiased, nonpartisan, ethical manner. Since then, we’ve published more than 5,000 stories about issues that matter most to residents in the greater Wausau area.
As nonprofit, a nonpartisan organization committed to editorial independence and transparency we offer more “hard news” and local coverage than any other news outlet, hands down. And our content will always be free – with no paywall, ever.
Next week, on Tues., Nov. 13, we will host two events to celebrate our successes.
First, at 8 a.m., we’ll have our first-ever members-only Coffee and Conversation meet and greet. At this free event, we’ll serve up coffee and a continental breakfast at our downtown Wausau office, where we’ll discuss how we choose stories, how we report on the issues, and hear your ideas for future coverage. This event is open to Pilot Patron members only, and is one of a series of monthly gatherings we’ll be hosting for members moving forward.
Not a member? Join now, and your tax-deductible monthly donation will be matched at an annual rate, thanks to our NewsMatch initiative. If you join Wausau Pilot and Review’s patron program today, your monthly fee will be matched for a full year. A $9 per month subscription, for example, will generate a $108 donation in NewsMatch funding. Our second event, also on Tuesday, Nov. 13, is open to all readers, both members and non-members. Join us for a ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m., no strings attached. This is our official opening for our downtown office, at 500 N. Third St., Suite 208-8. We’ll have light appetizers and soft drinks available and will be on hand until at least 5 p.m. to say hello and answer your questions about our work.
At Wausau Pilot and Review, our journalism establishes facts, exposes failures and examines solutions in local government, while offering in-depth stories about public safety, education, and environmental issues, among others. And starting later this month, we’ll offer comprehensive high school sports coverage – with livestream videos, player profiles, game day coverage and much more.
