WAUSAU — An elderly man died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle on Wausau’s north side.

The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Sixth Street and Park Avenue, police said.

The victim, a 92-year-old man, was taken to Aspirus Wausau HospitalT where he died of his injuries, according to Wausau Police Chief Ben Bliven.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, but police say neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to have played a role. The driver of the vehicle, 66-year-old man, called 911 and is cooperating fully with police.
