WAUSAU — The RiverWolves will honor one of their own as the team opens their game door to veterans and service members for free this weekend.
The RiverWolves Military Appreciation Night will be held on Nov. 10 as the team pays tribute to all those who have served our country. The RiverWolves will honor Sergeant First Class E7 Bob Patnaude, who works the penalty box at RiverWolves home games.
In 1966, Patnaude enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in his hometown of International Falls, Minnesota. Patnaude served in the U.S. Army for 27 years and during Operation Desert Storm where he was a member of the 213 SS Battalion Division, according to a RiverWolves news release. The 213 SS Battalion was responsible for supplying the tank division that made their way from Germany.
Patnaude will be recognized during the ceremonial first puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
