The Marathon County Public Library will host several events in the coming weeks at its various libraries.

Celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday by making a turkey windsock on Nov. 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Kids can use bathroom tissue rolls, tissue paper and construction paper to make this festive fowl. Free. Call 715-693-2144 for more info.


Children can kick off the holiday season by writing a letter to Santa Claus. Beginning Nov. 19, parents can pick up a blank letter from Marathon County Public Library’s Athens or Hatley branches. Children can then drop off their completed letter in Santa’s Mailbox at the branches any time through Dec. 14. The library will send all the letters to the North Pole and children can expect to receive a handwritten response by mail in mid-December. Free. Kids and families can put their problem-solving skills to the test by trying to escape from a pop-up escape room on Nov. 24 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Rothschild Branch, 211 Grand Ave., Rothschild.
