WAUSAU — The executive director of YWCA Wausau will speak on implicit bias — attitudes or stereotypes that unconsciously influence our understanding, decisions and actions — in late November.
Andrea Huggenvik will speak at this free event from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at YWCA Wausau, 613 N. Fifth St., Wausau. You’ll be oriented to the cause of implicit bias, different biases that are prevalent in America and some strategies for overcoming bias.
Before joining the staff at the YWCA, Huggenvik worked in high school and university student affairs and workforce development, according to the host of the event, American Association of University of Women. Huggenvik grew up in Minnesota, but moved to Louisiana and Texas after college. Living in the South gave her a different perspective on race and racism in America.
AAUW advocates for equity for women and girls.
