STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Police have arrested a man they believe was involved in two separate knife attacks early Sunday that sent two men to the hospital.

Officers were called at 2:30 a.m. Sunday to Politos Pizza, 960 Main St. Stevens Point, for a report of a 24-year-old man who was stabbed in the neck with an edged weapon, according to the Stevens Point Police Department. The victim is hospitalized in stable condition.

An hour later, police were called to Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point to investigate a second stabbing that happened near the first incident. This time, a 33-year-old man came to the hospital after being stabbed in the arm. Police say the second victim’s description closely matched that of the first victim.

Joseph Stalnaker, 28, was arrested hours later in Waupaca County and faces possible charges of attempted homicide, according to police.

Charges could be filed as early as Monday.
