WAUSAU — Wausau Pilot & Review held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 13 at 500 North Third Street, Suite 208-8.

Wausau Pilot & Review is a nonprofit, independent, online newspaper that covers local government, public safety, education, and environmental issues. The newspaper launched in March 2017 and has since published more than 5,000 stories, reaching thousands of online readers each day.

All Wausau Pilot and Review content is 100 percent free to all readers and is supported through advertising dollars, optional memberships, grants, and individual donations.

The publication is in the midst of its annual NewsMatch campaign, where all individual donations up to $1,000 are matched dollar for dollar through the nation’s largest grassroots fundraising campaign. Memberships, which have additional benefits, will also be matched during this period. Readers who join Wausau Pilot and Review’s patron program today will have their monthly membership fee matched for a full year. A $9 per month subscription, for example, will generate a $108 donation in NewsMatch funding. A $20 per month subscription translates to an additional $240 for Wausau Pilot and Review, underwriting critical reporting projects, open records requests, documenter salaries, local sports coverage and more.

In September, the organization hired its first advertising and marketing director, Darren Siewert, and moved into a permanent home at CitySquare Office Center. Wausau Pilot & Review also launched local high school coverage for Wausau East, Wausau West, Newman Catholic and D.C. Everest this month. The ribbon cutting will celebrate these milestones.

“Since our launch, this organization has grown tremendously,” said Shereen Siewert, publisher and executive editor of the newspaper. “I’m so grateful to our sponsors and readers. We’re excited to have a downtown Wausau location that will allow us better access to the community, and we’re looking forward to even greater growth in the coming year.”

For sports sponsorship information, email Darren Siewert or call 715-571-8692.
