WAUSAU — An early-stage proposal to create a baseball complex at Wausau’s Brockmeyer Park is on the agenda for Monday’s parks and recreation committee.

According to city documents, Wausau Youth Baseball and Softball, Inc., and Newman Catholic Schools are exploring the possibility of such a complex, which would include between three and five baseball fields and a concession/restroom building. Preliminary talks are underway to conduct a feasibility study that would develop a scaled layout of the fields, assess site conditions and develop a preliminary cost estimate for the project.

The group seeks help from the parks and recreation committee in releasing a request for proposals to conduct the feasibility study, which will help identify the costs involved. After responses are received, the group would submit a proposal to the city identifying whether city participation in funding the study is necessary, but no official request for funding has so far been received.

Brockmeyer Park, 4200 Stettin Dr., Wausau, is a 25.5-acre parcel with a baseball diamond, soccer fields and a playground.

The parks and recreation committee meets at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 407 Grant St., Wausau.
