After about 18 months, the executive director of Wausau Events is stepping down from the job and the organization is accepting applications for her replacement.

Sara Hujar, who took the reins in August 2017, will leave the organization next month, according to Wausau Events Board President Elizabeth Knight. Hujar will be staying in Wausau but has accepted a position elsewhere, Knight said.

The organization is now seeking a replacement for Hujar, whose last day on the job is Jan. 4.

The ideal candidate must enjoy the thought of planning and hosting Wausau’s best events, representing WE in the community, working closely with sponsors and volunteers and driving the overall community-minded mission of the organization, according to the official job announcement.

“Our next Executive Director will be instrumental in continuing to build on and deliver diverse programs and experiences designed to enhance the quality of life for Wausau residents while attracting visitors to our area. As a non-profit organization, WE builds and sustains relationships with local businesses, organizations and volunteers to ensure our year-round events are fun, build community, and reach a large and diverse audience. The Executive Director will play a critical role in taking over these reins while continuing to position our organization for success well into the future.”

Applications are being accepted through Dec. 21. For more details and to apply, visit this page.
