New events added Dec. 7: Marathon County Public Library activities

The Marathon County Public Library will host several events in the coming weeks at its various libraries.


Children can kick off the holiday season by writing a letter to Santa Claus. Parents can pick up a blank letter from Marathon County Public Library’s Athens or Hatley branches. Children can then drop off their completed letter in Santa’s Mailbox at the branches any time through Dec. 14. The library will send all the letters to the North Pole and children can expect to receive a handwritten response by mail in mid-December. Free. The library will celebrate all things shiny and sparkly with its Glitter, Glow and Dance Story Time on Dec. 8 from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Patrons of all ages are invited to the library to create their own unique holiday cards from Dec. 10-14 at the Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Drop in any time the branch is open to make cards using a variety of paper and craft supplies. Free. Call 715-693-2144 for more info.


The library will offer a Thomas the Tank Engine-themed Family Adventure Night on Dec. 10 from 6-7 p.m. at the library’s Edgar Branch, 224 S. Third Ave., Edgar. Hear stories about Thomas and his friends, then make crafts related to the popular characters. Free. Call 715-352-3155 for more info.
