Doris Carlson

Doris Lanita Carlson, 76, of Wausau passed away at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1942, in Helena, Arkansas, to the late James and Naomi (Skinner) Johnson. Doris grew up in Arkansas and in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, graduating from high school in Wilmot, Wisconsin. She married David Carlson in Waukegan, Illinois, in August of 1962. They made their home in Wausau and Doris worked for the city as deputy city clerk. She later worked for 10 years at J.C. Penney Co. until her retirement.

Doris will be remembered as a caregiver and someone who always lent a helping hand. She put others before herself and was always concerned for her family. Her family was most important, and she especially looked forward to time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a family, she always enjoyed meals, vacations and visits. Doris also leaves behind many friends that she made while playing games on Facebook. She checked in with them and played games almost every morning.

Survivors include her husband, David; children, David Jr. (Cynda) Carlson and Laura Grogan (Dave); grandchildren, David III, Lindsay, and Megan Carlson, and Cameron, Blake, and Kieran Grogan; four great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Naomi.

A funeral service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Pastor Jayneann McIntosh officiating. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery, Daggett, Michigan.

John Lenz

John A. Lenz, 74, Wausau, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

John was born on Dec. 3, 1943, in Wausau to the late Walter and Rosalie Jean (Kickbusch) Lenz. He graduated from Wausau Sr. High in 1962 and went on to Ripon College, graduating in 1966. On April 30, 1977, John married Cheryl Kay Borchardt at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schofield.

For several years John was a director at WSAW-TV, Channel 7, Wausau. He went on to sell light fixtures for the former Day Electric for a year, and then found a home at the Foto News in Merrill, where he worked in several areas. He even wrote his own column.

John was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wausau, where he served a term as a deacon. He was a founding member of the RS&W Model Train Club in Rothschild. In addition to his interest in trains, he enjoyed fishing, reading, old movies and documentaries on TV.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl, Colby; sisters, Rosalie Jean Mosher, Wausau, Laura Lenz, Wausau, and Janet Dieck, Weston; his niece, Jessica Mosher and his nephew, Clinton Dieck.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Hubert “Hip” and Loretta Borchardt.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. Visitation will take place 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Pine Grove Cemetery. You may sign the family guestbook at Helke.com.


Agnes Genrich

Agnes “Aggie” Genrich, 96, of Weston passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Atrium.

Aggie was born in Wausau on Sept. 1, 1922, to the late Paul and Ida (Kufahl) Jahns. Aggie was a hard worker. In the 1950s she held five jobs while raising four boys on her own. In 1960, she married Donald Genrich. He preceded her in death.

Fishing, going to the cabin up North, shooting pool, knitting and playing shuffle board were some of the things that Aggie loved to do. She also enjoyed bowling and held a 185 average. Aggie loved all animals, and was good with them all, even the wildlife, but she had a special place in her heart for her dogs.

Aggie was a true Milwaukee Brewers fan. She knew the starting lineup, who was on the injured list, and who was on the suspended list for drugs for every game. Most important to Aggie was the love she had for her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two sons, Larry and Tim Hickman; two daughter-in-law’s, Judy and Frosty; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Aggie was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her two sons, Eugene and Terry Hickman; two sisters and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. Pastor Ray Connor will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, and again on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from noon until the time of services; all to take place at the funeral home. Robert Kostecki

Robert J. Kostecki 93, of Kronenwetter passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2018, at North Central Health Care in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was born to the late John and Mary (Mytch) Kostecki on July 4, 1925, in East Chicago, Indiana.

Bob married the love of his life Shyann (Klatt) on June 27, 1962, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Rothschild; she preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2006. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage together.

He had a love of gardening, going gambling, listening to Sunday polkas, wood working and loved just being outdoors.

He is survived by his siblings; Richard, Clarence (Phyllis), Leo, John (Beverly), Gertrude Kolosa, Emily Tsitosos, Irene Lizzo, and many sister and brother-in-law’s, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Shyann, siblings; brother Edward and sister Wanda Young, four brothers-in-law; Carl Lizzo, Bob Young, George Tsitsos, Kas Kolosa and one sister-in-law Valerie Kostecki.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 602 Military Rd., Rothschild, with Fr. Al Slowiak officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30 a.m.
