Medford– The Medford boys basketball team was no match for Wausau East on Friday night as the Lumberjacks cruised to a 63-49 win.
East took a 10 point lead in the first half at 38-28 and continued to outpace Medford in the second half.
Leading the charge once again for East was Gabe Krueger, who led the team with 23 points on 10-12 shooting. He also hauled in six rebounds.
Ryan LaCerte and Tre Buchberger each added 10 points for the Lumberjacks.
“I thought we executed our game plan very well,” said East coach Paul Dimka. “We limited our turnovers against their pressure. We were able to get out in transition, getting several easy baskets and we defended their long distance shooting, holding Medford to less than 30% from behind the arc. We got solid play from many players, sharing the ball and making the extra pass for a better look.”
East is now 5-0 and opens up Wisconsin Valley Conference play at D.C. Everest on Tuesday. DCE enters with a 3-1 record. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:45 PM.Wausau East - Box Score Report - 1282018
