Wausau–  The Newman boys basketball team couldn’t keep up with Marathon on Friday night as the Cardinals dropped the game 90-68.

Newman committed 22 turnovers, while the Red Raiders had just 12.

“Marathon is a good team and we just turned the ball over too many times tonight to stay with a team like that,” said Newman coach Dan Garrett. “It’s still early in the season and I’m happy with the effort my team plays with. We just need to be to take care of the ball better going forward, especially against a team as good as Marathon.”

Leading Newman offensively was Ben Bates, who scored 14 points.  Ben Leischer and Joe Zeimetz each added 10 points for the Cardinals.

Marathon took a 52-34 lead into halftime and kept the pressure up in the second half to preserve the win.Box Scores for Marathon Boys @ Newman Catholic Boys
