Volunteer opportunities for week of Dec. 17

Books and clothes for kids. The Salvation Army is collecting new children’s books and clothing for children ages 0-17 years until Dec. 17 at The Salvation Army, 103 S. Restaurant fundraiser organizer. JoJo’s Jungle is seeking a volunteer to coordinate several area restaurants in donating a percentage of their food sales on a date they choose. Help make the goal of building an all-inclusive playground become a reality! Contact Patrick at 715-571-001 or [email protected].

Environmental education stewards. Join Monk Botanical Gardens year-round to provide nature programs for children and adults. Topics include youth gardening, nature walks or other items of interest. Orientation, training and curriculum provided. Contact 715-261-6309 or [email protected].

Habitat for Humanity store volunteers. Join the activity on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Recycled Building Materials store. Family Lunch Day helpers. In January, come eat lunch with children whose parents are unable to attend the monthly Family Lunch Days at Franklin Elementary School. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., welcome families, wipe tables and sit with children. Contact Roxane at 715- 261-0584 or [email protected].

In-kind donated items needed

Keeping warm. The Open Door is happy to pass along your donations of new or gently used men’s gloves and mittens, as well as long underwear and warm socks, to those who come for support at this time of year. This is a great need right now. Contact Anne at 715-848-4044 or [email protected].

Board game fun. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin would appreciate your gently used board and card games and other activities that Bigs and Littles can do together. Contact Beth at 715-848-7207 or [email protected].

Garden supplies. Donated garden tools, supplies, bins, barrels, lumber for raised bed construction, etc. are appreciated for Gaining Ground Gardens, which supports therapeutic horticulture programs for current and former jail inmates and their families.
