APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — An Appleton man convicted of trafficking women through brutal means has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Prosecutors say 39-year-old Willie Allison manipulated and controlled women by beating them, withholding food and controlling their access to drugs. Authorities say he also moved large amounts of heroin and cocaine from Milwaukee to the Appleton area, where he sold the drugs.

The investigation began in September 2017 when police were called to an Appleton home where a 23-year-old woman had overdosed. She survived.

A jury in October convicted Allison of human trafficking and drug-related charges.
