WESTON — Students at Evergreen Elementary School have gathered stuffed animals, books and fleece blankets for children in need as part of the school’s Spirit of Giving program.

On Dec. 21, kindergarten through fifth-grade students will give over 70 Bundles of Kindness (blanket, book, stuffed animal) to local emergency services personnel so that local children impacted by trauma receive something to ease their burdens, according to the D.C. Everest Area School District. Sometimes tragedy befalls the families in our community in the form of fire, medical emergencies or trauma, for example.

For the emergency service personnel who are first on the scene of a crisis, it can be especially difficult to see children who are impacted by such events.

“It would be comforting for the emergency service personnel, as well as for the families to have gifts to offer during their time of need,” said Andrea Reede, SAFER Firefighter/EMT, in an D.C. Everest Area School District news release.
