Ruth Weisbrod

Ruth Weisbrod, 92, Weston, formerly of Rothschild, died peacefully on Dec. 22, 2018, at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Weston.

Ruth was born in Wausau on Aug. 12, 1926, to Magdalene and Leo Fahl.

She married Leon Weisbrod on Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DePere. Ruth and Leon enjoyed life hiking and bicycling throughout the area, fishing, frequent travels to Green Bay, Stevens Point, Door County, Michigan’s Upper Pennisula and California, and hosting parties in the home that they built in Rothschild.

Ruth worked as a cashier at National Tea Co. in Wausau for many years. She loved to golf and would often go right from work to play a round before the end of her day.

Ruth was a loving soul. She cared tirelessly for her husband and parents during their illnesses and deaths. She brightened the day of anyone she encountered with her warm smile and loving personality. Even hours before her passing, she was kind, polite and appreciative for what people were doing for her.

Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband and brothers Donald and Gerald.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Parish, 602 Military Road, Rothschild, with the Rev. Allan Slowiak officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the start of the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Donna Ash

Donna L. Ash, 67, Schofield, went to heaven peacefully in the comfort of her own bed at Cedar Ridge Elder Services on Dec. 23, 2018.

Donna was the daughter of Dorothy and Lloyd Ash and was born Sept. 27, 1951, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. As a young child, she was placed in Northern Colony and then other care centers throughout Wisconsin until she then came to live with the Garske Family in 1987.

Donna was a loving and joyful soul. She loved dancing, singing, the Packers, dogs, cats, all-star wrestling and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She made two trips to visit Graceland with her foster mother and guardian, Sheila Garske.

We would like to thank all Special Olympic volunteers and coaches who brought so much joy to Donna’s life through track and bowling events.

She had 28 summers of fun and adventures going to Camp Blessing and Easter Seals Camps.

Donna is survived by her niece, Bobbi Ash of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin; nephew, Erik Ash of Littleton, Colorado, and sister-in-law, Kathy Ash of Madison, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her foster parents, Sheila and Bill Garske and foster sister, Leah Garske of Weston; foster brothers, Will Garske of Tomahawk and Matthew (Renee) Garske of Wausau. Preceding Donna in death besides her parents was her brother, Wayne Ash, in 2014.

The funeral service for Donna will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Warren Cemetery in Roberts, Wisconsin (St. Croix County).
