Ashwaubenon– The Wausau West Warriors left little doubt who the best team was at this year’s Showdown in Titletown as they cruised to a 6-2 win over Superior on Saturday to claim the tournament title.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the first period, West took over.

Lucas Langlois found the back of the net unassisted, and Marc Sippel scored to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead.

In the second period, West got two more goals, including one by Connor Healy and Cade Lemmer, respectively, and the score stood at 5-2.

Carson Marquardt hit an unassisted goal in the third period, and that was all she wrote.

Wausau West had 30 shots on goal, while Superior had 20.

West is now 9-2 and will resume Wisconsin Valley Conference action on January 3 as they take on Marshfield.
