ELCHO — The man whose remains were discovered Sunday in a house fire in Elcho has been identified as 79-year-old Calvin Helgeson.
According to the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department, crews were called at 5:20 a.m. Sunday to the home on County Hwy. Z. Hwy. Z runs north/south near Upper Post Lake.
The house was fully involved when crews arrived and is being described as a total loss.
Firefighters discovered Helgeson’s remains while fighting the blaze. Police say Helgeson owned the property.
Officials have not yet said what caused the blaze or how Helgeson died.
