New event added Jan. 7: Marathon County Public Library events

The Marathon County Public Library will host several events in the coming weeks at its various libraries.


Adults can learn the technique of pull string art, where string and paint are used to create various pictures or phrases, during Adult Night at the Library on Jan. 7 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Edgar Branch, 224 S. Third Ave., Edgar. Free, with all supplies provided. For info, call 715-352-3155. The creations can be used as a form of home decor or given as a gift. All supplies will be provided.

Families can hear stories, read and participate in various activities related to the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and math during Home School Huddle on Jan. 8 from 1-2 p.m. at the Edgar Branch, 224 S. Third Ave., Edgar. Sessions will be held every Tuesday through May 7. Call 715-352-3155 for more info.

Kids are invited to make their own sparkly icicles using aluminum foil and glitter on Jan. 8 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Free, with all supplies provided. For more info, call 715-693-2144.


 

Teens interested in volunteering, socializing with other teens and planning programs the library offers can join the Teen Advisory Group at the Marathon County Public Library. MCPL will offer monthly meetings beginning Jan. 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at its Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. TAG will meet on the first Tuesday of each month through May 7. Join the Marathon County Public Library for a free class on Microsoft Word and using Word to create your own resume on Jan. 8 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Cindy Meyering

Local author Cindy Meyering will read from the self-published book “I’m There for You” and will answer audience questions on Jan. 9 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Marathon City Branch, 515 Washington St., Marathon City. Children of all ages and their families are invited to build creative projects using LEGO blocks on Jan. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Rothschild Branch, 211 Grand Ave., Rothschild.
