Merrill– The D.C. Everest Evergreens were missing five players on Friday night as they battled the Merrill Bluejays, but Everest found a way to win as they defeated Merrill 56-51 in overtime.
“I’m really proud of our kids and their effort and toughness to battle on a night when we were shorthanded,” said Everest coach Matt Bullis. “It was a back-and-forth game most of the night and both teams really dug deep and fought hard. We were just the lucky ones to come out on top.”
Everest got 15 points from Meghan Heil, while Alexis Wojnowiak and Zoey Minnihan each scored 11 points.
Merrill was led by Courtney Krueger led Merrill with 15 points. Rylee Mrachek added 11 points for the Bluejays.
Everest is now 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Merrill drops to 6-7 overall and 1-5 in the Valley.
