Wisconsin Rapids– The Wausau East Lumberjacks overcame a rough first half and managed to pull out a 69-63 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Friday night.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Wausau East.  It was the Lumberjacks’ second win in Wisconsin Valley Conference play.

Gabe Krueger led Wausau East once again in points as he scored 23.  Krueger pulled in 15 rebounds to lead the team.

Krueger got some help from Ryan LaCerte, who scored 17 points.

Forrest Kronberger had 13 points and Trey Buchberger added 10.

“After a sluggish first half we played much better in the second half,” said East coach Paul Dimka.  “We played with more energy and  had a little bounce to our step.  We stepped up defensively especially over the last five minutes of the game during winning time.  We also did a much better job on the glass out-rebounding Rapids,  especially in the second half.  Good to get a win after a three game skid.”
East is now 9-4 overall and will face Merrill in WVC action next Friday.
