TOWN OF SCHOEPKE – One person is dead after a snowmobile crash early Sunday in the Oneida County town of Schoepke, sheriff’s officials say.

Crews were called at 1:10 a.m. to the crash scene on Old 26 Road following a 911 call, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department. Police say the driver of the snowmobile left the designated trail and struck a group of trees.

The driver of the sled died at the scene.

The victim’s name, age, and gender have not yet been released.

Oneida County Deputies along with Medic 1, Fire District Alpha, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is completing the accident report.        

The crash remains under investigation.
