WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

Investigators from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division are at a Wausau financial company Thursday and were seen removing a number of boxes from the office.

Witnesses tell Wausau Pilot and Review that at least five agents were seen carrying boxes out of Zipperer Financial, 115 Forest St., Wausau, and placing those boxes in vehicles. The agents wore jackets identifying them as IRS CID officials, witnesses said.

Zipperer Financial offers supplemental Medicare plans, advantage plans and Part D pharmaceutical plans.

Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation investigates potential criminal violations of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and related financial crimes in a manner intended to foster confidence in the tax system and deter violations of tax law.

A search of federal and state court records did not immediately show any charges filed against the organization or its principals.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
