Medford– The D.C. Everest Evergreens fought to a 52-49 victory over Medford in non-conference action on Friday night.
Everest trailed by seven late in the second half when Medford started holding the ball with six minutes to go.
Everest’s pressure with a small lineup turned out to pay dividends, turning Medford over and sparking the comeback.
Malorie Schmoll scored 20 of her 22 points in the second half as DCE rallied for the road victory.
“I’m really proud of our entire team tonight,” said Everest coach Matt Bullis. “We had some great efforts defensively by our small lineup which was nice to see. They really sparked us in the end, and our bench was great too. Tonight was one of those games that really pulls your team together. They’re great kids, and great teammates and seeing them so genuinely excited for one another during and after the game is what it’s all about. When nobody cares who gets the credit, and you play as a team, great things happen and tonight that was the case. Hopefully this can spark us into the second part of the conference season.”
