Lloyd Juhlke
Lloyd Juhlke of Schofield, a95, passed away Jan. 18, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born in 1923 to Leonard and Erma (Harder) Juhlke. He married Dorothy Woller on Nov. 4, 1944. She preceded him in death.
Lloyd farmed in the town of Rib Falls until 1960, when they moved to Wausau and he was employed by the Singer Co. in sales and service for 17 years. They later moved to Denver, Colorado, where he started his own Lloyd’s Sewing Center Co. When he retired, they moved back to Wausau in 1992. He enjoyed golfing, his flower garden and yard; also playing his concertina and dancing waltzes and polkas. He was an active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Schofield, where he was captain of a dartball league for many years.
Survivors include three daughters Karen Hubbard of Tucson, Arizona, Bonnie Hart of Belair, Maryland, and Nancy Juhlke of Wausau, Wisconsin; five grandchildren Scott and Mark Hubbard, Tucson, Arizona, Brad (Danielle) Hildebrandt of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Amy (Zhirik) Barseghian of Ladera Ranch, California, and Jeff Lowther of Belair, Maryland; and four great grandchildren Lauren and Derek Hildenbrandt and Calvin and Ava Barseghian.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, daughter Sandy Szymanski, son-in-law Wayne Szymanski, great grandson Jaxon Barseghian, and parents Leonard and Emma Juhlke.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Chapel, 6205 Alderson St., Schofield. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday. The Rev. Ray Connor will officiate.
Donations may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
Mark Krueger
Mark D. Krueger, 73, of Wausau died on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 6, 1945, to the late Harold and Ruth (Caswell) Krueger in Madison, Wisconsin. He married Mary Schremp in Wausau on Sept. 8, 1979. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2016.
Mark was a United States Air Force veteran, serving honorably in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. He worked for the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department as a detective until his retirement in 1997, he then worked as a fire investigator for EFI Global from 1998 until 2018.
Mark was very skilled at woodworking, creating beautiful gifts for his family. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time at the barn during deer season. He and Mary took many road trips to Mackinac Island and always brought back fudge to share. Mark was a loving husband, caring father and the best grandpa.
He is survived by his daughters, Cherri (John) Cravens, Tammy Judkins and Jennifer (Carlos) Miller; 10 grandchildren, Max, Andy and Julia Cravens, Salina, Philip and Anna Judkins, Brittney Hafenbreadl, Afton (Jamel) Reed and Domonique and Azaria Miller; three great-grandchildren, Alona and Ralph Pegues and Ramiya Ferguson. He is further survived by his siblings, Kathy (Dick) Anderson, Steve (Denise) Krueger, and Lisa (Ron) Romero.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at St. Mary’s Oratory, 325 Grand Ave., Wausau. Canon Aaron Huberfeld, Rector will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment to follow service at St. Joseph Cemetery, lunch to follow at St. Mary’s.

Marjean “Jean” Nowack
Marjean M. “Jean” Nowack, 76, Marathon, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born April 6, 1942, in Marshfield to the late Alexius and Lorraine (Boser) Karlen. Jean was a graduate of Marathon High School. On June 18, 1960, she married James Nowack at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cassel.
Jean worked for 21 years at Club 29 and then at Menards for 19 years. Most recently, she was employed at Curves in Rib Mountain and Wilichowski Sales in Marathon. She was an avid bowler and received recognition for participating in the State Bowling Tournament for 35 consecutive years. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family, her grandchildren and especially her husband Jim, who was the love of her life.
Survivors include her husband Jim, Marathon; her children Deborah (Rev. Matthew) Mallek, Stevens Point, Russell (Gail) Nowack, Stratford, Rodney (Prudy) Nowack, Rib Mountain, Lisa (Rick Radabaugh) Nowack, Rosemount, Minn. and Greg (Kellie) Nowack, Merrill; grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda) Mallek, Nathan (Traci) Mallek, Mikayla (Andy) Schultz, McKenzie Mallek, Ethyn, Hailey and Anna Nowack, Josh (Kristin) Cebula, Laura (fiancé Josh Kralcik) West, Scott (Courtney) Lang, Phillip (Michelle) Lang, Jon Lang and Adam Radabaugh; great grandchildren Emory, Ira, Roman and Theo Mallek, Devin and Jaxten Moore, Emma and Ella Cebula, Lauren West, Samantha, Kristian, MacKenzie and Tyler Lang; great great granddaughter, Addison; brothers, Myron (MaryAnn) Karlen, Ronald Karlen and Michael (Roxanne) Karlen; sisters, Lynette (Don) Hieronimus, Patricia Karlen and Beverly (Michael Sommer) Karlen. She is further survived by brothers-in-law, Richard (Bernell) Nowack and Mark (Karen) Nowack; sisters-in-law, Jane (Norbert) Myszka and Nancy (Steven Drexler) Schoenfuss; many nieces and nephews, as well as countless precious friends who loved her dearly and will miss her deeply.
Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Sue; niece, Bonnie Karlen; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Irene Nowack; sister-in-law, Lynn Karlen, brothers-in-law, Jerald Nowack and Roy Nowack; grandson-in-law, Jared West; granddaughter, Ashley Moore; and nephew, Todd Hieronimus.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary School, Marathon.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Hamied Rezazadeh, Lori Schutte, APNP, and Mary, Tanya and Shelly from Aspirus for the kind and compassionate care given to Jean. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier for the numerous visits with Jean both at the hospital and at her home.

Donald Punke
Donald “Putz” J. Punke, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born April 26, 1934, in Wausau, son of the late William and Hilda (Riemer) Punke. On June 16, 1956, he married Florence Woellner at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens.
Donald worked as a logger and enjoyed creating trails in the woods on his CAT. He had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, spending time with family up North at the Hilton property, the Triple S Clubs or just enjoying a campfire. He was also an avid Packers and Brewers fan.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, children, Jean (Doug) Krueger, Mike (Cindy) Punke, Ken (Linda) Punke, Laurie (special friend, Arnie Sova) Punke, Karen (Rick) Guralski and Mark (Kristi) Punke, all of Athens; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Pickruhn.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle Carl who was like a second father to him and a brother-in-law, Jerome Pickruhn.
Funeral services will be at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Mark Schwalenberg will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services, all at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

Vincent Howard
Vincent K. Howard, 71, of Wausau passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital from complications due to myotonic muscular dystrophy. He was born on May 7, 1947, to the late Vincent R. and Loraine (Diekfuss) Howard. On Feb.16, 1974, Vincent married Judy Ellen Ewald in Wausau.
Vincent attended University of Wisconsin Marathon County, going on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning his bachelor’s degree. He then went on to law school at Marquette University. Vincent came back to Wausau, was in private practice for 10 years, eventually serving as a judge for Marathon County Circuit Court for over 30 years. He was a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and the Elks Lodge. Throughout his life, he attended First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Judy, siblings Karen (Michael) Morrisey, Hewitt; Kurt (Karen) Howard, Wausau; Koral Howard, Wausau; Kristal (Jerry) Knapp, Wausau; Kimberly (Scott) Reynolds, Reno, Nevada ; 11 nieces and nephews and 18 great nieces and nephews; uncle Allen Schultz, Waukesha.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family is having a private service at First United Methodist. Thomas Birt
Thomas W. Birt, 90, of Wausau passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019. He was born June 15, 1928, to Herbert E. and Lucy F. (Franke) Birt. He married Virginia G. Eschenbach on Sept. 10, 1949, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Thomas graduated from Wausau High School in 1945 and served in the Navy Reserve. He started his driving career with Lotz Sand & Gravel, ran Webb Gas Station and started City Delivery. In 1959, he started working for Montgomery Ward as a semi driver for 26 ½ years. He was rewarded with commendations for safe driving, service pins for each year of accident free driving, and two trophies for his outstanding safety record. Thomas and Virginia also liked to travel in their trailer home, eventually crossing their way north, south, east and west through the U.S. They also enjoyed dancing together, and in his younger days he enjoyed doing the calling at square dances. He was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and six years at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church in Sarasota, Florida. He ushered and sang in the choir in his earlier years. Tom loved all the good things life offered him!
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, and son Jerome J. (Debra Thorne) Birt, three precious grandsons Phillip (Meghan), Ted (Carrie), Xander, great grandchildren Ottava, Lincoln, Evelyn, and Coen, brother Floyd Birt, and sisters Faye Schwarm, and Judith (Jim) Kasten.
He was preceded by his parents, sister-in-law Marion Birt, and brother-in-law Lester Schwarm.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 1300 Townline Road, Wausau. Pastor Dave Wetmore will officiate. Larry Honeck
Larry H. Honeck, 70, Mosinee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2019. He was at home, surrounded by family, under the care of Interim Healthcare/Hospice, and courageously lost his battle with several types of cancer.
Larry was born April 26, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late William Honeck and the late Betty Schmittinger. He married the love of his life, Peggy (Margaret Ruder), on March 10, 1973, but has been together for 52 years. During those years they built a family together and made many friends along the way.
Spending time with his family was always important to him. He enjoyed school functions with his children, such as sock hops and Friday night movies in the elementary gym. Fourth of July celebrations were also a staple in our back yard with our family and friends. Larry also enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing and camping. Most recently, he had a seasonal camp site with his wife, and spent countless weekends enjoying friends and campfires. He was also employed at Property Connection Inc. and was field manager and maintenance for nine mobile home parks.
Larry is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters Candice (Wendell Lewis); Heidi (Tim Hromek) both of Mosinee, son Jimi Honeck and son-in-law Corey Washington; sisters Nancy Krueger; Diane Morgan; Karen (Larry Clutz); Linda (Bruce Dierbeck) Larry and Peggy; as well as 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by Waldemar and Betty Schmittinger (mother); William Honeck (father), father-in-law and mother-in-law Lawrence and Dorothy Ruder. Most recently he lost his youngest daughter Tammila M. Washington, who also lost her battle with cancer, and his beloved dachshunds Rusty and Rex.
The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to the Interim Hospice team Jillian, Monica and Tim, who cared for Larry.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 900 Old Highway 51, Mosinee. Friends may come between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
