MINOCQUA — A 25-year-old man is dead after an early morning snowmobile crash in Minocqua, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, on South Stone Lake Road.
A preliminary investigation shows the driver of the snowmobile was traveling on an unmarked trail when his sled struck a closed metal gate. The victim died at the scene, police said.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating the crash at this time. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.
