‘Route 51’ to explore lesser-known Wis. history

Wausau — What do Tarzan’s Jane, Spencer Tracy and the Gideons have in common? Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Route 51” will explore that question and others at 10 a.m. Jan. 24 with host Rick Reyer and Brett Barker, professor of history at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau.

Barker has taught at the Wausau campus since 2002 and is the author of “Exploring Civil War Wisconsin: A Survival Guide for Researchers.” His classes in Wisconsin history and civil war history have been among the most popular of students of all ages. Listeners can call with questions about Wisconsin history at 1-800-780-9742.
