Merrill– The Wausau West girls basketball team got balanced scoring and played shut down defense in a 79-39 win over Merrill in Wisconsin Valley Conference action on Tuesday night.

Maddie Schires led West with 18 points, while Kadie Deaton pitched in 17 and Anna Cunningham added 16.

Tess Hauer cracked into double figures with 10 points.

Merrill got 14 points from Dalie Thomas.

West doubled up on Merrill in the first half, outscoring the Bluejays 44-22.  The Warriors limited Merrill to just 17 second half points.
