Wausau– The Wausau West Warriors have hired Sandra Barnhart as the head girls’ soccer coach. Coach Barnhart is a 2009 Wausau West alumnus where she started all four years for the Warriors. Following graduation, Barnhart coached the Faith Christian Academy soccer team prior to entering into military service with the United States Coast Guard. She retired from the USCG in 2017. She maintained involvement in soccer throughout her various station assignments with the USCG.

According to a press release from the Wausau West athletic department, Barnhart brings with her a warm personality and a passionate love of the game of soccer.

The release goes on to say Barnhardt’s “…many levels of leadership experience in the Coast Guard are great training skills that will help her succeed in running the West’s girls soccer program. Barnhart’s ability to connect with young athletes and build relationships will create a soccer environment in which Warrior girls will enjoy playing.”
