WAUSAU — The Center for the Visual Arts, 427 N. Fourth St., offers various classes in February and March.

Saturday Open Pottery Studio with Max Reinhardt
Saturdays, Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23
11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Work on your own creations and practice your wheel throwing and hand building skills. You have the flexibility to choose your open studio time. Each registration allows students six sessions.

Mid-Day Pottery Workshop with Ron Hay
Wednesdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27 and March 13
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
For intermediate to advanced students to work on individual projects.

All Things Paint: Acrylic with Val Berkely
Tuesdays, Feb. 12, 19 and 26
1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Start at the very beginning and learn about choosing paints, painting surfaces and how to make the most of your paint and brushes. This fun and lively class will teach basic color theory and color mixing will be explored, as well as textures and techniques.

Kids Paint Acrylic with Ms. Val
Tuesdays, Feb. 12, 19 and 26
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Develop new skills and talents while designing unique creations using a variety of wonderful materials. Each class will focus on developing artistic skills and craftsmanship, the power of self expression and more.

Beginning Wheel-Throwing with Max Reinhardt
Tuesdays, Feb. 19, 26, March 5, 12 and 19
6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
A beginning wheel throwing class to concentrate on techniques for novice students to center clay, create volume and build simple bowl and mug forms. Learn trimming techniques, glazing practices and gain knowledge on the clay firing process.

Beginning to Intermediate Wheel-Throwing with Max Reinhardt
Wednesdays, Feb. 20, 27, March 6, 13 and 20
6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Watercolor Sketchbook Journaling: Days Of Our Lives With Nancy Laliberte
Thursdays, Feb. 28, March 7 and 14
10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
You’ll discover that your daily life is a lot more exciting than you realize. Learn to record and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary with unique sketches, page layouts, lettering and storytelling. With weekly sketchbook assignments, you’ll be excited to do your homework.

Pastel Landscapes & Water Workshop with Andrea Fenner
Friday, March 8
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
This workshop is for beginner to advanced students who are interested in exploring pastel techniques and texture on suede format. Learn composition and drawing skills to add interest and life to your work. We’ll delve into realism in art by drawing what you see with your own eyes.

Expressions – Kids’ Day of Art
Saturday, March 9
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sign up for a whole Saturday of classes. Choose from a variety of media options; painting, jewelry making, drawing cartoons, composing graphic designs, mixed media, sculpting or wheel-throwing with clay, and more.
