WAUSAU — The Central Wisconsin Educational Theatre Alliance will present “Big River” as part of its 2019 season of educational performances and workshops.

All “Big River” performances will be held at the Wausau East High School Theater, 2607 N. 18th St., Wausau, and run from Jan. 31 through Feb. 10.

The winner of seven Tony Awards, “Big River” tells the tale of Huckleberry Finn and his adventures on the mighty Mississippi River. The timeless story from Mark Twain guides the audience through hilarity, suspense and heartwarming tales of the friendship between Huck Finn and Jim, a slave.

The 2019 Artist in Residence, playing Jim, is Jay Pierce. Pierce, based in New York, is lead vocalist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and has toured with the multi-platinum recording group for the past 12 years. He has been working with the dozens of student actors and stage staff for the past three weeks in preparation for opening night.

Shows will be held at 7 p.m. on  Jan. 31, Feb. 1, Feb. 2, Feb. 7, Feb. 8 and Feb. 9. Shows will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10. Tickets for adults are $15, seniors 62 and older are $10, students are $10. Tickets are on sale at showtix4u.com.
