The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department is cautioning motorists about challenging road conditions and limited visibility that is making travel hazardous.
In a Facebook post, department officials wrote:
“The Marathon County area is experiencing extremely heavy fog this morning that is severely limiting visibility. If you must travel, ensure that you allow extra time to reach your destination and that you leave adequate spacing between your vehicle and other vehicles to avoid collisions in the dense fog.
Additionally, the rapidly changing weather is affecting road conditions this morning as well. Be advised that there are scattered slippery spots on all types of roadways as well as areas of slush buildup that can present safety issues for motorists.”
