WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW
WAUSAU — Sean Cronin, who spent more than a decade working as a local weather forecaster in Wausau, has died at age 60 after a long illness.
Cronin was a weather forecaster, producer and reporter at WIFR in Rockford, Ill. from 1981 to 1983 before moving on to KOLR in Springfield, Missouri, where he worked until 1984. After becoming a certified meteorologist by the National Weather Association, Cronin began working at WLUK in Green Bay. He continued in Green Bay until 1986, when he spent two years as chief meteorologist at a Reno, Nevada station before moving to the Wausau area.
Cronin was a well-liked TV personality who entertained as well as informed during his tenure at WAOW, where he worked from 1988 to 1999. He also ran for public office in 2000, seeking to represent Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He leaves behind his wife, Maggie; three children; a granddaughter and countless friends and fans.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Brainard Funeral Home’s Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Ct., Weston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Therese Church, 113 W. Kort St., Rothschild.
