in Sports

WAUSAU —RiverWolves’ defenseman Max Bembinster has been named Great Northern Conference Player of the Year and first team All-Conference, the RiverWolves announced this week.

Bembinster played in five games during the RiverWolves 2017-2018 season and will join the RiverWolves following the conclusion of his high school hockey season at Tomahawk High School. The Tomahawk Hatchet has played in 19 games this year, while contributing 10 goals and 22 assists, according to the RiverWolves.

“I am humbled by the Conference Player of the Year award. I can’t take all the credit for this accomplishment as I couldn’t achieve the things I do without the support from my team,” Bembinster said in a RiverWolves news release.

The Wausau RiverWolves take on the Milwaukee Power at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at Marathon Park.
