The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Marathon County effective until 12 a.m. Friday.

Snow will move back into northern Wisconsin late tonight as another weather system approaches Wisconsin. Mixed snow and freezing rain is expected across the central and east-central part of the state. Snow and freezing rain will continue into Thursday evening.

The highest snow totals are expected across the north, with less snow but more ice in central and eastern Wisconsin.

Up to 7 inches of snow is predicted for the Wausau area.

Expect snow-covered roads and limited visibility in the area. Travelers should use caution when navigating area roads.
