Portage County residents will now have the opportunity to provide critical life-saving aid in situations that they might not otherwise be aware.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Department, along with Mid-State Technical College, will participate in a 9-1-1 integrated mobile app, called PulsePoint, designed to alert users of nearby cardiac arrest victims and locations of automated external defibrillators.

The program will formally launch at 10 a.m. Feb. 11 in conference rooms 1 and 2 at the Portage County Annex Building, 1462 Strongs Ave., Stevens Point. The public is invited.

The app also features a real-time view into dispatch and increasing community awareness of emergent events.
