Georgia (Sawby) Serwa

Georgia (Sawby) Serwa, 70, passed away on Febr. 3, 2019, at Azura Memory Care.

She was born March 22, 1948, in Fargo, North Dakota, to the late Julian and Zona (Skarison) Sawby. She graduated from Waukegan High School in 1966 and married Ronald K. Serwa on June 10, 1966.

Georgia was a gifted painter and talented quilter. She enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, photography and cooking. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren and friends, along with volunteering at the humane society.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ron; sons Michael (Jana) Serwa and Matthew (Loralee) Serwa; brothers Scott Sawby and Steve Sawby; grandchildren Morgan Wojciechowski, Madilyn Fischer, Mitchel Serwa, Myles Serwa, Maclayna Serwa and Locklynn Serwa; as well as great grandchildren Levi Fischer and Cade Wojciechowski. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Julie Murphy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Marathon County, 7001 Packer Drive, Wausau, WI 54401.

Irma Schmieden

Irma H. Schmieden, 92, of Wausau passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at Applegate Reflections.

Irma was born on March 7, 1926. in Marathon, Wisconsin. After completing high school, Irma met, fell in love and married the love of her life, Merlin Schmieden.

Watching the Brewers, Packers and Milwaukee Bucks were some of Irma’s favorite things to do. As well as baking, cooking, bird watching and walking her dog Daisy.

She is survived by her children, Dwight Schmieden of Wausau, Dennis (Donna) Schmieden of Schofield, Debi Whitley of Madison, Don Schmieden of Wausau and Denise (Scott) Stanley of Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband Merlin, 2-year old son David and infants Allan and Carol.

Mary Ann Clairmore

Mary Ann Clairmore, 102, of Schofield passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1916, in Merrill, to the late John and Myrtle (King) Wadinski. On June 4, 1938, she was married to Robert J. Clairmore in Waukon, Iowa. Robert passed away on May 23, 1986.

Mary Ann worked at D.C. Everest Senior High School. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, playing cards, sewing, camping, casino trips, traveling, and Friday night fish fry adventures with her brother and granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Annette (Larry) Bindl, Nancy Rusch and Carol (Bucky) Ryan; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, John (Sam) Wadinski.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Rusch; great-grandson, Steven Rusch; sister, Bette Jane Thompson; brothers, William and Wayne Wadinski; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, James Clairmore, Roger Clairmore, Charles Thompson, Ruth Dalum, Dorothy Wadinski, Lorraine Wadinski and Lorraine M. Wadinski.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St. in Weston, with Pastor Lance Hoelscher officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
