Marathon County volunteer opportunities: Week of Feb. 11

Lifeline installer. Visit the homes of elderly and disabled people throughout Marathon County to install Philips Lifeline equipment. Train recipients how to use their personal help button and unit. Basic knowledge of electrical and phone equipment, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and willingness to troubleshoot issues is necessary. Susan G. Komen Central Wisconsin More Than Pink Walk. Volunteers are needed for multiple roles on the Walk Committee and shifts on Aug. 10 and 11. Friendly receptionist. A welcoming volunteer who can direct incoming telephone calls, greet clients, receive donations and perform other secretarial duties at The Women’s Community is needed. Contact Melissa at 715-842-5663 or melissa@womenscommunity.org.

Hospice House food prep. Help with preparation, serving food and kitchen clean up. Guests appreciate the care put into this on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for supper and lunch on Thursdays. Shoveling help. Early morning shoveling is a big task at the YWCA. Help keep elderly people and children safe. Individuals or teams can assist. Contact Andrea at 715-842-3381, extension 107, or ahuggenvik@ywcawausau.org.

In-kind donated items needed

Help provide coffee comfort. If you enjoy your “cup o’joe”, you may be able to give that simple pleasure to those moving forward at The Open Door with coffee/creamer/sugar donations. Contact Anne at 715-848-4044 or opendoor319@gmail.com.

Large magnetic white board. McLit is looking for an educational tool to use for new language learners. If you have teaching boards to donate, contact Connie at 715-679-6170 or mclitofwausau@gmail.com.
