SAINT GERMAIN — One person is injured after his snowmobile collided with a garbage truck early Friday in Saint Germain, according to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash happened at around 10:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Hwy. 155 and Birchwood Drive.
Police say the snowmobile was eastbound on a trail and attempting to cross the highway when the crash happened. The garbage truck was traveling northbound on Hwy. 155, police said.
Witnesses said the garbage truck didn’t stop and the driver seemed unaware of the crash. Police say the crash is not being treated as a hit and run.
The driver of the snowmobile was transported to Howard Young Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. His name has not been released.
