WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW
ONEIDA COUNTY — Two people are dead and one person is critically injured following a head-on collision near Three Lakes, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash happened at about 5 p.m. on Hwy. 45 at Hiles Junction Road.
Police say the driver of a northbound vehicle was traveling in the southbound lane when she struck an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle died at the scene, police said.
Both occupants of the southbound vehicle were flown to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where the passenger of the vehicle died. As of late Monday, the driver of the southbound vehicle remained hospitalized in critical condition.
Hwy. 45 was closed for hours as crash reconstruction crews worked at the scene.
No names have been released, and the crash remains under investigation.
