TOWN OF PIEL  — Police have identified the victims in a fatal head-on collision near Three lakes as 18-year-old Kelsey Bellman, of Eagle River, and 53-year-old Judie M. Miller, of Arkansaw, Wis.

A third victim, 18-year-old Carsen E. Hickson, of Conover, was critically injured in the crash, according to an Oneida County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The crash happened at about 4:49 p.m. Monday on Hwy. 45 at Hiles Junction Road in the Oneida County town of Piel, near Three Lakes.

Police say Miller was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van northbound when she drifted across the center line, striking Hickson’s southbound vehicle, a 2016 Ford Escape. Miller died at the scene.

Bellman and Hickson were extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where Bellman later died. Hickson remains in critical condition as of early Tuesday morning.

Hwy. 45 was closed for hours as crash reconstruction crews worked at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
