RHINELANDER, Wis. — A 28-year-old Rhinelander woman who tried hire a hit man to kill her husband was convicted Tuesday in Oneida County Circuit Court of solicitation to commit first degree intentional homicide.

Megan Danielczak was arrested in February 2018 in the murder-for-hire plot, which unraveled after a “concerned citizen” contacted police.

The investigation culminated when Danielczak gave a down payment on the planned hit to an undercover Wisconsin Department of Justice agent posing as a hit man, according to police. Danielczak was to pay the balance after her husband had been killed.

Police say the motive was financial.

Court records show Danielczak’s husband filed for divorce days after her arrest.

A sentencing hearing is set for May 2.
