WESTON — A 5K fundraising event that sprung from tragedy in 2017 will return for the second year in mid March.

Run to Remember 5K will be held on March 16, nearly two years after four Wausau area residents died in a shooting.

The inaugural Run to Remember 5K, held in 2018, raised more than $25,000 to build a permanent memorial for the late Detective Jason Weiland, the late Sara Quirt Sann, the late Karen Barclay and the late Dianne Look. The four-sided memorial will ensure they’ll never be forgotten and will always have a lasting presence in our community. The memorial will be placed in Kennedy Park in Weston this summer.

This year’s course will run through the streets of Weston, starting at D.C. Everest Junior High School.
