VILLAGE OF MAINE — A home and two vehicles were destroyed in a blaze that broke out at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Kellar Drive in the village of Maine, north of Wausau.

A 911 caller alerted crews to the blaze, which began in the single-story home’s attached garage and engulfed the home in less than 20 minutes. The roof of the garage caved in on top of two vehicles before crews could arrive to battle the flames.

All occupants of the home escaped without injury.

Crews from at least six area departments eventually arrived to assist in the effort, which was hampered by bitterly cold temperatures and strong winds. The Salvation Army assisted both residents and firefighters at the scene.

There’s no word yet on what caused the blaze.
