WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Medical Center was on lockdown Friday, prompted by a report of a man with a gun, according to police.

But the gun turned out to be an air soft gun, and there was no danger to patients or to staff, according to the Marshfield Police Department.

Police were called to the hospital, located at 611 St. Joseph Ave. in Marshfield, at about 11:10 a.m. for a report of a man in the parking lot with a gun. The building’s doors were locked and no one was permitted to enter or leave the campus.

Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle who advised her son had been driving the vehicle and is an employee at the hospital. The woman’s son admitted to playing with an air soft gun before entering the hospital, police said.

The gun was confiscated and no charges were filed.
